Key job responsibilities
As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
• You are responsible for managing the lifecycle of a complex cross-functional program with considerable impact
• You ensure business and technical stakeholder needs are aligned, you drive mindful discussions that lead to crisp decisions
• You routinely deliver the right things with limited guidance
• You work with teams to improve concurrent project delivery
• You oversee the gap between teams, processes, and system architectures, and you help teams/your organization reduce exposure to classic failure modes
• You actively recruit and develop others by mentoring in your organization and/or at your location
• You provide constructive feedback for engineers, managers, and other peers

A day in the life
As the Sr. Technical Program Manager, you will define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyze data, drive improvements that are quantified with metrics, and influence resource allocation. You'll work closely with business teams, leaders, and dedicated user experience design and engineering teams in an agile development environment to build and launch to customers. You'll track status, mitigate risk and report to your stakeholders, partners and teammates on a regular basis. You'll dive deep into systems to understand limitations, scaling factors, and architectural decisions. There will be a lot of ambiguity to work through, and you will need strong judgement and leadership skills.

About the team
We are Recruiting Engine, a cross-functional org of research and applied scientists, data engineers, program managers, product managers, UX designers, software developers, and recruiting teams. We believe there is a right way to recruit, and have brought these disciplines together to ideate, build, and learn together. We prefer this role to be based in Vancouver or Toronto due to proximity with team members.


  • 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • 5+ years of technical program management experience

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to scope technical requirements and prioritize program deliverables
• Presentation and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build partnerships with senior leaders across a variety of groups throughout Amazon


• Experience with agile or similar program management methodologies
• Experience as both a developer and project manager
• Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units
• Experience working with remote teams and external partners
• Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs and evaluate new ideas with internal and external partners
