Migration Evaluator (originally TSO Logic) is a proud new group within Amazon Web Services (AWS) Migration Services. Our service delivers accurate data-driven recommendations to right-size and right-cost compute. Our predictive analytics provide customers with insights to create an optimized path for migration from on-premise to AWS. Our goal is to help companies optimize their cloud migration journey based on and analytics, reducing the overall time and costs it takes to migrate.
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to help the team grow by building our new service offering.
As a Software Engineer on the team, you will be a key contributor to the future direction and growth of the our services. You will participate in creating significant portions of our architecture and product. You will be part of a highly collaborative team that architects and builds solutions at AWS scale, resolves customer challenges, and maintains/enhances the operational excellence that creates loyal AWS customers. Simply put, as a member of this team you will be given the opportunity to make fundamental contributions to the architecture of an AWS service while growing your own technical and professional skills.
The product is complex and comprises of several components, offering huge opportunities to work at all levels from the front-end user experience, to a set of robust platform services, to system level pieces and everything in between. Ideal candidate enjoys working on complex systems, is customer-centric, and is passionate about building quality software as well as achieving operational excellence.
We understand that sometimes you need to work from home. Outside of COVID-19 guidelines, our team is located in the Vancouver office and we work from home as needed for a doctor's appointments, to take our kids to school, pick them up, and do the things that can't be done from the office.
This position involves periodic on-call responsibilities. We don't like getting paged, so we build our fault tolerant and root cause problems so we're not paged for the same issue twice. We have a track record extremely low count of pages year-round.

This is a full-time position, and in normal times, is based in our Vancouver, BC, office located in the heart of downtown with easy access to all forms of public transportation.
A day in the life
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and databases.
- Effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
- Adept at handling ambiguous or undefined problems as well as ability to think abstractly.
- Proficient in one or more languages such as Java, C#, Python, and Scala.
