Job Description:

The ORM Enterprise Technology Risk Manager will partner with the first line of defense to oversee and challenge the execution of AI risk management activities and leading practices, technologies used to keep up with the constantly evolving landscape of AI technology. The candidate will identify gaps, inconsistencies and other integrity issues in technology controls and risk metrics used to manage AI risk. The AI Technology risk individual will be responsible for second challenge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at TD, ensuring that use cases align with internal technology risk management policies, frameworks, and standards. The candidate will verify and validate technology control measures in the context of technology processes, support, and infrastructure used for AI.

Job Description
  • Provide second-line challenge to first-line risk assessments, RCSAs, and AI/ML model deployment decisions.
  • Review and opine on AI risk classifications, inherent risk ratings, and control effectiveness to ensure consistency across business segments.
  • Validate that AI use cases, GenAI tools, and automation platforms have undergone appropriate due diligence (bias testing, data lineage, explainability, security).
  • Challenge adequacy of risk mitigation plans for identified control gaps or emerging issues.
  • Understand and support the AI related Framework as part of the enterprise Technology Risk Management.
  • Support the risk taxonomy for AI-related risks - including bias, ethical misuse, model drift, explainability, and data protection - and ensure alignment with enterprise risk taxonomy.
  • Understand and help drive creation of risk appetite metrics and key risk indicators (KRIs) for AI and technology innovation domains.
  • Support policy refreshes to embed AI governance principles into Technology and Model Risk policies, standards, and control libraries.
  • Conduct independent thematic reviews across AI programs, identifying systemic control weaknesses or concentration risks.
  • Understand and aggregate risk posture reporting for AI and emerging technology within the enterprise's operational and technology risk dashboards.
  • Partner with Model Risk Management, Data Governance, and Cybersecurity functions to ensure AI risk coverage.
  • Evaluate material risk requests for AI deployments and recommend escalation where risk exceeds appetite to the Senior Risk Manager.
  • Support executives on any AI reporting on AI risk posture.
  • Provide credible challenge during policy exceptions, risk acceptance, or remediation extensions related to AI systems.
  • Contribute to regulatory responses and exams (OCC, OSFI, FRB) ensuring alignment with responsible AI governance expectations.
  • Promote AI literacy and ethical awareness across risk and technology communities.
  • Support continuous control monitoring (CCM) initiatives and automation of AI risk indicators where feasible.
  • Drive a culture of transparency in AI technology risk decisions.
  • Establishing ongoing reporting and monitoring of AI risks across the assigned portfolio.
  • Serves as a source of expert advice to senior management for AI risks related to technology architecture.

Job Requirements
  • Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.
  • 5+ years of experience in AI, either through education and/or direct experience
  • 5-10+ years in Technology Risk Management
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management, governance, programs, policies, practices, operating frameworks & reporting for business supported and/or area of discipline to deliver objective guidance and independent challenge on initiatives.
  • Knowledge of technology & cybersecurity risk management environment, standards, regulations and mitigation, including NIST, FFIEC, Basel, and OSFI frameworks.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
  • Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide advice to senior leadership
  • Skill in using analytical tools, data analysis methods and specialized reporting techniques
  • Ability to lead, plan, implement, and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of initiatives
  • Ability to make an impact, influence, and achieve results with effective negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Working towards or hold AI related certification such as NIST AI RMF, CAIGP (Certified AI Governance)
