PSYCHOLOGY INSTRUCTOR (SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY)
POSITION TYPE: Non-Regular Type 2 (50%)
POSITION START: September 1, 2025 or January 1, 2026

FACULTY OVERVIEW:
Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is the fourth largest university in the province of British Columbia and serves communities in a unique regional environment south of the stɑl̓əw̓/stó:lō/Fraser River in the lands known today as British Columbia. The name 'Kwantlen' comes from the Kwantlen First Nation in whose traditional territory the University is located. Chief Joe Gabriel of the Kwantlen First Nation bestowed the name on the institution, resulting in Kwantlen First Nation and Kwantlen Polytechnic University having a long history of partnership. THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY:
The Department of Psychology, part of the vibrant Faculty of Arts , has a reputation for teaching excellence, high collegiality, good work-life balance, and research mentorship. Our department is home to award-winning educators, excellent scholars, and some of the university's top students. Our department consists of 35 full-time faculty members. Several initiatives speak to the culture we have built over the years including the following: department retreats, faculty mentorship, partnering on events with the student-run Kwantlen Psychology Society, supporting the Kwantlen Psychology Student Journal , and hosting the biennial Connecting Minds National Undergraduate Research Conference . The department has 8 research labs including the Group Dynamics & Psychometrics Lab , the Matsuba Applied Development Lab , the Lifespan Cognition Lab , the MacLean Research Group, the Precision Cognition Lab , the ORGASM Research Lab , the Acting Together: AT-CURA Project , and the Virtual Reality Lab . In terms of educational pathways, we host a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Psychology , a Bachelor of Arts , Major in Psychology , an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology , a Minor in Psychology , and an Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology . The bachelor degrees also have honours options.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Department of Psychology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites applications for a non-regular (50%) beginning September 1, 2025 or January 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in Social Psychology, as well as first-year introductory courses.
A track-record of quality teaching of the following courses is highly desirable: PSYC 2300 Statistics, PSYC 2400 Research Methods, PSYC 2330 Social Psychology, PSYC 3210 Attitudes and Persuasion, PSYC 3343 Psychology of Prejudice, and PSYC 4700 Culture and Psychology.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or ABD) in Psychology or a related-area approved by the Search Committee. All applicants should have a track-record of quality in-person and online teaching and an established or developing program of research.

This competition is for a maximum FTE of 50% (NR2) depending on the availability of work. When possible, priority will be given to the candidate(s) who can maximize the FTE either individually, or collectively, as such please indicate on your application your preferred workload percentage. *SALARY INFORMATION
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
