Database services on AWS power some of the most important companies on Earth. We're looking for an accomplished product manager to play a big role on the Amazon Relational Database Services (Amazon RDS) team. Amazon RDS is one of the largest and fastest-growing businesses in the AWS cloud with no end in sight as organizations are rediscovering the strengths of relational databases and the ease of application development. We provide a simple-to-use and reliable service that allows customers to setup, operate, and scale a relational database with just a few clicks. This enables our customers to spend more time building and operating their applications to accelerate the growth of their businesses. Our customers build applications on Amazon RDS in fields as varied as interplanetary space missions, drug discovery, finance, online gaming, travel, and social networks, to name a few. We work hard to deliver new capabilities that improve security, durability, availability, performance, and scalability for our customers every day.

We are hiring a Principal Product Manager - Technical to lead investments in new capabilities for Amazon RDS such as improving the builder and operator experience; integrating with more AWS services and third-party solutions; increasing the availability, resilience, and mobility of customer data; and more. Examples of recent capabilities addressing these needs include Amazon Controllers for Kubernetes (ACK) service controllers for Amazon RDS, event-driven automation with Amazon EventBridge, and Snapshot Export to Amazon S3, which allows customers to make data available to downstream reporting and analytical applications (e.g., Amazon Athena) without impacting their main transactional applications.

Do you have the experience to manage a business at scale, keeping your foot on the gas while continuing to provide our customers with the features they're asking for as well as the ones they haven't asked for yet? Do you have the experience of guiding a successful business to be even more successful? We need someone who has exceptional problem-solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated experience leading through influence and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver under ambitious deadlines. We are looking for a person with a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous projects that will be industry defining. This position requires a solid technical background, a customer-focused mindset, and a passion for software development, cloud architecture, and information technology. Past experience with databases is a plus.

As a technical product manager, you will work backwards from customers to establish their desired benefits and functional requirements, define the product vision and customer value proposition, create a product roadmap that will deliver compelling new service capabilities, and then drive each new capability to a successful launch.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years in product management or product marketing is required
  • Bachelor degree in a related field is required


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred
  • Previous experience managing Software-as-a-Service technology products and managed services.
  • Understanding of the Enterprise services space, particularly database and analytics.
  • Experience with building products and services for partners, resellers, managed services providers, and consulting companies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence others internally and externally
  • Ability to analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, and scope business requirements
  • Ability to deliver initiatives from conception through completion
  • Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills, attention to details, proactive self-starter.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads.
  • Ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions.
