The Legal department of the TD Bank Financial Group is comprised of corporate/commercial and litigation lawyers with varying areas of expertise tailored to meet the legal needs of the various business units of TD Bank Financial Group. The Legal Department is committed to delivering to its clients the highest level of expertise, service, responsiveness, and flexibility. Our lawyers identify emerging client opportunities, provide prompt and informed legal advice and produce tangible results that implement creative solutions.
The Account Recovery Services group within Legal Department supports the Customer Assistance Group providing dedicated mortgage enforcement services which are integral to the recovery of defaulted mortgages.

Job Description/Accountabilities:
As a member of the account recovery services team, you will work in a fast-paced legal environment delivering mortgage enforcement services to our client, the Customer Assistance Group. Your duties will include:
- Preparation of various legal documents
- Preparation of correspondence and the handling of a variety of communications with customers, internal and external stakeholders
- Prioritize and manage workflow to ensure quality and efficiency, meet deadlines and be flexible in adjusting to changing work priorities
- provide specialized business services, advisory or processes within the area of specialty (mortgage enforcement)
- Accountability for own work and sometimes others; act as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in area of mortgage enforcement
- Work within broad guidelines / policies and independently perform tasks from end to end
- Solve moderately complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions with guidance of counsel
- Exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information in handling account recoveries.
- Ability to perform work under minimal management guidance and supervision
- Identify and lead problem resolution
- Remain knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
- provide training, cross -training coaching and/or guidance as appropriate
- Respond promptly and thoroughly to requests for information
- Create/develop forms/tools & templates
- Take initiative to identify and recommend improvements in job function
- Use software programs and other departmental tools or equipment with ease, efficiency and provide appropriate documents/information that legal counsel /team members require
- Sundry administrative duties as required
Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:
- Law Clerk designation is required
Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- Previous collections and/or mortgage enforcement experience gained in a law firm or financial institution is required.
- Sound knowledge of legal/litigation concepts, terminology and procedures with respect to civil litigation is required.
- Sound understanding of power of sale process including property management issues, tenancies, evictions, securement is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and above average comprehension ability.
- Strong communication skills including demonstrated ability to deal with customers whose accounts are in collection.
- Ability to handle simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with end-to-end standardized processes/protocols.
- General computer literacy (MS Word, MS Internet Explorer), working knowledge of Bar-Ex is also required. Familiarity with Techcom (RPMS) system is an asset.
