Job Description

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a unifying and strategic leader to take on the newly created role of Global Director, Internal Communications - a pivotal function at the heart of a major transformation in how we engage our employees across the organization.

The Internal Communications team is the strategic driver of all employee engagement and experience communications in support of business priorities. The Director will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the enterprise-wide internal communications calendar, ensuring that messaging is aligned, timely, and contributes to a seamless and engaging employee experience.

This is not a traditional communications role - it is a strategic leadership position that shapes the systems, structures, and culture of employee engagement communications across the company.

This individual will oversee approximately 15 team members, including seven direct reports, organized under three complementary streams:
  • Employee experience communications: A team of communications business partners who advise and collaborate with internal functions as strategic catalysts and facilitators of the employee experience. Rooted in culture-building and storytelling, they design communications that inspire, engage, and empower our people-driving WSP's strategic objectives in a workplace that values connection, recognition, and belonging.
  • Local communications strategy and deployment: A dedicated liaison team that ensures communications and initiatives from the Global team are effectively adapted and amplified across regions. This hybrid team works closely with both the Global employee experience communications team and local counterparts to tailor overarching messaging, materials, and tactics to local realities-maximizing engagement and impact while aligning with business priorities.
  • Internal editorial management and content strategy: Working closely with the Director and content strategy peers, this person manages the company-wide internal editorial calendar and drives continuous improvement across internal communications-ensuring strategic alignment, editorial consistency, and audience relevance to maximize employee engagement.
