Department Overview:

The Enterprise Sustainability Group advances TD's sustainability strategy by supporting greenhouse gas emissions management, sustainable finance, and climate-related initiatives across carbon-intensive sectors. The team plays a key role in shaping TD's approach to the transition to a low-carbon economy and in meeting evolving regulatory and disclosure expectation. The work is highly visible and supported by senior leadership across the Bank.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role will support the Scope 3 financed emissions calculation routine for TD's non-retail portfolio. The Manager will play an integral role in TD's efforts to prepare disclosures for regulatory requirements, such as OSFI's Climate Risk Return and OSFI B-15. The Manager will work with the Sustainability Reporting team, Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence (AI2) team, and other key business partners within the bank to establish a monitoring and reporting process for Scope 3 financed emissions metrics.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Scope 3 Financed Emissions Reporting & Controls
  • Own the calculation and reporting of non-retail Scope 3 financed emissions metrics
  • Provide guidance to data scientists in building/updating the model to align with PCAF methodology and regulatory requirements
  • Verify and challenge model updates developed by the data science team
  • Ensure appropriate governance exists through robust controls, documentation, and lifecycle management embedded in delivery workflows
  • Lead and support audit, model validation and external assurance engagements
  • Identify trends, and insights in Scope 3 financed emissions metrics to provide actionable business intelligence
  • Prepare presentations, briefings and summaries for executive audience

Scope 3 Financed Emissions Methodology and Data Strategy
  • Support monitoring of the impact of existing and emerging sustainability regulations, standards, and best practices on the current internal calculation methodology
  • Review various new data sources to fill the gaps in current processes and enhance the data quality score
  • Support work to understand potential data vendor's methodology to assess if it is aligned to TD's standards and meet industry/regulatory requirements

Job Requirements:

University degree with minimum 7+ years of relevant professional experience in Data Science, Sustainability or Finance.

Key Skills:

Must have:

  • Experience developing, deploying, and governing Python-based models within a regulated financial institution
  • Experience managing git repositories within an agile workflow
  • A bility to distill complex information into clear, digestible content for senior audiences, with strong storytelling and communication skills to influence decision-making
  • Ability to manage deadlines while multi-tasking amongst different priorities

Nice-to-have:
  • Cloud (Azure) experience including DataBricks
  • Knowledge of or familiarity with PCAF, NZBA, ISSB, OSFI B-15
  • Understanding of TD's lines of business (e.g., TDS, RESL, TDAF, CBB)
  • Awareness of fundamental data governance and data management practices
