Amsted Canada has established a new Business Center in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We are elevating our Global Technology teams in several areas including but not limited to Engineering, Security, Development, Infrastructure, Emerging Technology, and SAP. We are also expanding our Shared Services Support (HR, Payroll, AP/AR, and Finance) in PEI. These teams are instrumental in providing support to all Amsted affiliate locations worldwide.

Position Details

Are you in the electric vehicle arena looking for your ideal next career step? Are you driven by the global shift to electric vehicles? Are you interested in pushing the limits of conventional design, fostering new ideas to solve complex problems, and utilizing your skills to develop new products? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an Electric Vehicle Controls Engineer to join our e-Mobility team focused on new product development and customer deployments in the global commercial vehicle market.

TheElectric Vehicle (EV) Controls Engineerwithin our e-Mobility group will be responsible for the design, development, and system architecture of e-Mobility solutions utilizing the ConMet PreSet Plus® Electric Hub (e-Hub). This position is responsible for the strategy and implementation of software specific to high voltage traction motor optimization, auxiliary power distribution, HV safety system, user interface, and overall development of the vehicle supervisory control system.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Vehicle level supervisory controls and management
  • Integrating subsystem components such as: DC - DC converters, onboard chargers, thermal management, HVIL, battery management
  • Developing / optimizing traction inverter control
  • Controlling auxiliary power electronics and HV distribution
Required Experience/Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Engineering(Note: ideal majors include Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer, or another applicable engineering or technical field)
  • Minimum 3+ years of applicable Controls Engineering work experience
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) experience
  • Matlab/Simulink/StateFlow, MotoHawk, Model based design
  • System level controls integration
  • Experience with high voltage systems
  • CAN bus messaging protocols, J1939
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with high voltage battery management systems
  • Experience with ISO 26262
  • HMI/GUI software development
  • Simulation and modeling
  • Testing and validation experience
