The Justice Services Branch (JSB), in the ministry of Attorney General, is responsible for policy development, law reform and justice transformation in the areas of administrative, civil, criminal and family justice.

The Family Policy, Legislation and Transformation Division (FPLT) is a team of ministry staff responsible for private family justice policy and legislation. FPLT leads legislative amendment and reform projects and provides policy support to ministry executive and the Attorney General throughout the legislative process. FPLTis also has responsible for developing and leading the ministry's family justice transformation strategy providing policy support to the ministry's Family Justice Services Division and Maintenance Enforcement and Locate Services.

The Senior Policy Analyst initiates, or is assigned to, complex policy and/or legislation projects and responds to issues related to the ministry mandate and legislation. The Senior Policy Analyst manages projects and develops policies, programs and action plans which advance both justice reform and access to justice.

The Senior Policy Analyst provides confidential information and advice to Directors, Executive Directors, the Assistant Deputy Minister of the branch, other senior ministry officials, the Deputy Attorney General and the Minister. In addition, the analyst provides advice and information to senior officials of other ministries on a broad range of rapidly emerging and sensitive issues relevant to the Province's justice system and related government policies and programs. The analyst is also responsible for exercising a significant amount of discretion and assuming a project leadership role on their initiatives, often briefing senior officials, executive and the premier's office, with minimal supervision and direction.

This position will be working on engagement with external stakeholders, policy, and program design work to support family justice system responses to family violence.

Highly organized and results oriented, you are capable of meeting deadlines associated with multiple projects. With your excellent oral and written communication skills, you will be responsible for collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field; AND
  • Aminimum of 3 years recent, *related senior level experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

*Recent, related senior level experience must include all of the following:
  • Researching, analyzing, developing and delivering complex policy and legislation initiatives and program reforms;
  • Working with teams and committees of senior managers;
  • Project management-leading projects from conception to completion and supervising other staff and/or contracted resources;
  • Working with senior government officials and other senior professionals;
  • Leading and participating in consultations with internal and external stakeholders/partners;
  • Preparing and writing government documents, including briefing notes, Cabinet Submissions, discussion papers and reports.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Experience working in the Justice Sector.
  • Experience working in the area of family violence.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement.
