Job Summary

Become an integral part of B.C.'s legal service

The Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) is an independent, quasi-judicial tribunal that operates under the authority of the Civil Resolution Tribunal Act. The CRT is Canada's first online tribunal and currently provides end-to-end dispute resolution services in strata property disputes and small claims up to $5,000. The tribunal also has jurisdiction to resolve motor vehicle accident disputes and some disputes involving incorporated societies and cooperative associations, as well as claims involving non-consensual distribution of intimate images.

The CRT's Articling Student position supports CRT's delivery of dispute resolution services through innovative, fair and impartial, structures and processes.

Job Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree in law before the start of the position.
  • Eligibility for membership in the Law Society of British Columbia.


Preference may be given to applicants with personal, work, community, or volunteerexperience that includes:
  • Improving access to justice.
  • Issues facing vulnerable and marginalized populations.
  • Administrative law processes.
  • Alternative dispute resolution processes or online dispute resolution.
  • One or more of the dispute areas within the tribunal's jurisdiction.
  • Handling sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Speaking and understanding language(s) other than English.

About this Position:
This position is based in Victoria.
Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to a few days a week at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a one year term beginning May 2025.
An eligibility list may be established.
This position is excluded from union membership.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
